Installing Exchange Transmission- Remove transmission. Removing and Installing Transmission
IMPORTANT!
- Always blow out oil cooler and lines with compressed air and flush twice with ATF prior to installation of an exchange transmission. Transmission identification* is on the data plate.
- Transfer transport holder (1), lever (2) and bracket (3).
- Transfer rubber mounts and exhaust carrier.
IMPORTANT! - Installation:
- Automatic transmissions are supplied filled with ATF.
- Remove plug on oil sump before installation of the oil filler pipe.
- Catch escaping ATF in a clean container.
- Pour in ATF again with help of Special Tool 24 0 080 (funnel) after installation of the transmission.
Checking Oil Level:
- Check/correct oil level with selector lever in P and engine running at idle speed.
Car parked on level floor.
After a test drive and with transmission oil temperature of approx. 40°C (105°F)the oil level should not be below ball (1).
The oil level should be between mm. and max. marks at an oil temperature of approx. 80°C (175°F).
Amount of oil between mm. and max. marks approx. 0.3 liter (0.5 pint).
Never wipe off the oil dipstick with a cloth losing lint.
IMPORTANT!
Oil Level Too High:
- Strong foaming, splashing loss, temperature rising while driving fast, oil lost via the vent.
Oil Level Too Low:
- Valves rattling, foaming, engine slipping in curves, general operating disturbances.
