Code 4 (Engine Speed Signal TD Value Not Plausible)
ENGINE SPEED SIGNAL TD VALUE NOT PLAUSIBLEExplanation
This defect code is stored when the Engine Speed Signal (TD) corresponds to a value >7000 rpm.
NOTE: As long as the Engine Speed Signal (TD) signal corresponds to a value >7000 rpm, the Electronic Throttle Control (EML) uses a substitute value of 4000 rpm for calculating the pedal characteristic map. A learned value EML Throttle Valve (DK) opening is used for idle speed control.
Troubleshooting
- Compare screen display (status monitoring) with actual tachometer display.
- Check engine speed signal line TD from the Digital Motor Electronic (DME) to the EML.
- Check signal form and time progression of the engine speed signal TD with scope.
- Proceed with other displayed scan tool diagnostic instructions where applicable.
