Code 5 (Link From EML to ASC Faulty)
LINK FROM EML TO ASC FAULTYExplanation
This defect code is stored when a fault occurs after switching "ON" the ignition and during synchronization of the Electronic Throttle Control (EML) and Automatic Stability Control (ASC). If synchronization was successful, then this defect code is stored in the event of termination.
NOTE: If no synchronization is started between EML and ASC because, for example, the ASC is not connected, then this is not stored as a defect code. In this case, there is no ASC provided for the EML. In vehicles with automatic transmission, the Preset Throttle Value (DKV) signal can be read out via status monitoring of the Electronic Transmission Control (EGS) based on the throttle EML Throttle Valve (DK) angle.
Troubleshooting
- Check DKV signal (from EML to ASC) with scope; frequency measurement (approx. 100 Hz).
- Check Throttle Reduction (DKR) and Throttle Increase (DKE) signals (from ASC to EML) with scope; frequency measurement (approx. 100 Hz).
- Proceed with other displayed scan tool diagnostic instructions where applicable.
