SUBJECT:
Oil Pipe Hollow (Banjo) Bolt
MODELS:
All with M10, M30 and M70 Engines
Situation:
A new hollow bolt which is used on the oil pipe for camshaft lubrication has been developed and is now available. The redesigned bolt features a "Tuflok" coating on its threads which eliminates the need to retorque the bolt(s) after the initial installation. The torque specification is 11-13 N-m (8.1- 9.6 ft.lbs.).
Note:
If repairs become necessary which involve the removal of new style hollow bolts, they must always be replaced. These new style bolts must not be retorqued.
Along with the "Tuflok" coating on its threads (1), the new style bolt can be further identified by a machined ring groove on top of the bolt's head (2) (see illustration).
Parts Information:
The part number of the new style hollow bolt is 11 42 1 738 621 and remains the same as the early style bolt. Only the new style hollow bolt is available from the PDCS.
Warranty Status:
