Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection
Injection Electronics. Wiring Diagram:
1. With the ignition switch OFF, disconnect the DME control unit harness connector X1500 (located in the E-Box).
2. Turn the ignition switch to the run (ON) position and place the transmission range selector in park or neutral. Make the following voltage measurements at X1500 of the harness connector.
^ Brown/black wire (terminal 42) and ground:
Expected result:= Battery voltage.
If not: check fuse F17 at the front power distribution box.
3. If OK, disconnect harness connector X511 at the transmission range selector switch and make the following voltage/resistance measurements.
^ Brown/black wire (terminal 3) of range selector switch to terminal 42 of the DME control unit:
Expected result:= 0 Ohms.
If not: check for an open.
^ Terminal 1 of connector X511 and ground:
Expected result:= Battery voltage.
If not: check wire from terminal 1 to fuse F17 for an open and repair or replace as necessary.
4. If OK, check for continuity at the transmission range selector switch
^ Terminals 1 and 3:
Expected result:= 0 Ohms.
If not: the transmission range selector switch is defective.
