Code 9 (EML System Defect)

EML SYSTEM DEFECT
Explanation
This defect code is stored when the program of the Electronic Throttle Control (EML) control unit detects no defect, but a defect code is detected by the hardware of the EML control unit. This defect code is also stored in the case of a defect at the EML warning lamp.

NOTE: The EML warning lamp cannot light in the case of a short to plus on the EML warning lamp line, thus not defect code is stored.

Troubleshooting
- Proceed with displayed scan tool diagnostic instructions.
- Check EML voltage supply and battery charge (status monitoring).
- If no defect can be found but the customer complains of faults in the EML system which cannot be found and the defect code counter reading is >10, renew the EML control unit.
