Throttle Position Switch: Testing and Inspection

Injection Electronics. Wiring Diagram:

1. With the ignition switch OFF, disconnect the throttle switch connector X1536.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the run (ON) position and make the following voltage measurements at connector X1536 (female half).

^ Brown/black wire (terminal 5) and ground:

Expected result:= approx. 5 volts.

If not: check wire to terminal 53 of X1500 for an open or short to ground. If wire is OK, DME control unit is defective.

^ Brown/blue wire (terminal 6) and ground:

Expected result:= approx. 5 volts.

If not: check wire to terminal 52 of X1500 for an open or short to ground. If wire is OK, DME control unit is defective.

^ Brown/black wire (terminal 5) and brown/orange (terminal 4):

Expected result:= approx. 5 volts.

If not: check wire to ground for an open.

^ If all of the voltages are correct replace the throttle switch.
