Crankshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation
Engine Speed/Reference Sensors:
Engine Speed/Reference Sensor:
Engine Speed/Reference Wheel:
The engine speed sensors supply engine speed data to the control units. The sensors consist of a permanent magnet, iron core and a coil of wire. A magnetic field that increases and decreases is produced as the teeth of the reference wheel pass by the sensors. The T.D.C. reference signal is generated by the two missing teeth on the reference wheel as they pass by the inductive sensors.
