DME System 1

Injection Electronics (Motronic Control Unit I). Wiring Diagram:

1. With the ignition switch OFF, disconnect the DME control unit harness connector X1600 (located in the E-Box) see COMPONENT LOCATIONS.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the run (ON) position and place the transmission range selector in park or neutral. Make the following voltage measurements at X1600 of the harness connector.

^ Brown/black wire (terminal 42) and ground = Battery voltage If not check fuse F17 at the front power distribution box

3. If OK, disconnect harness connector X511 at the transmission range selector switch and make the following voltage/resistance measurements.

^ Brown/black wire (terminal 3) of range selector
switch to terminal 42 of the DME control unit = 0 Ohms If not check for an open


^ Terminal 1 of connector X511 and ground = Battery voltage If not check wire from terminal 1 to fuse F17 for an open and repair or replace as necessary.

4. If OK, check for continuity at the transmission range selector switch

^ terminals 1 and 3 = 0 Ohms If not the transmission range selector switch is defective
