TR-Signal/EKP Relay
TR-signal/EKP Relay:Check function:
4-pin relay up to model '89.
The EKP relay switches on for as long as the DME control unit outputs a ground signal with overlaid engine speed signal (one per crankshaft revolution) at Pin 3.
7-pin relay as of model year '89.
The EKP relay switches only during the start (via terminal 50) or when ignition signal (terminal 1) is applied.
Possible causes:
- Wire to EKP relay defective
- EKP relay or main relay defective
- Voltage supply for DME control unit, relay 1 or 2 not OK.
- No signals from engine speed/position pulse generator (sensor)
- Ignition output stage or ignition coil defective (only model '89)
- Fuel evaporation control valve
