DME System 2
Injection Electronics (Motronic Control Unit II). Wiring Diagram:
1. Disconnect the connector from the air mass meter.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the run (ON) position and measure the following voltages at the air mass meter harness connector X1611.
^ Red/blue wire (terminal 2) and ground. = battery volts If not check wire to main relay for an open.
^ Red/blue and brown/orange wire (terminal 2 and 4). = battery volts If not check wire to ground for an open.
^ Gray/violet and gray/blue (terminal 3 and 6) = approx. 5 volts If not check wire to terminal 7 of DME control unit connector for an open.
^ If all voltages are OK, proceed with step 3.
3. Switch the ignition OFF and disconnect the DME control unit connector.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the run (ON) position and measure the voltages at the air mass meter harness connector.
^ Gray/blue wire (terminal 6) and ground = 0 volts If not check wire for a short to voltage.
Relay Locations:
5. Remove the cover from the relay box on the right side of the engine compartment.
^ Gray/blue wire (terminal 6) and X1543 battery post. = 0 volts If not check wire for a short to ground.
^ If all voltages are OK, the air mass meter is defective.
5. Switch off the ignition and reconnect the DME control unit harness connector X1601.
6. Turn the ignition switch to the run (ON) position and measure the voltage at the air mass meter harness connector X1611.
^ Gray/violet wire (terminal 3) and ground = approx. 5 volts If not check wire 43 of DME control unit for an open or a short to ground
^ If the wire is OK, the DME control unit is defective.
^ Red/blue wire (terminal 2) and battery = battery volts If not check wire to main relay for an open
7. Turn the ignition switch OFF and measure voltage at the air mass meter harness connector X1611.
^ Gray/violet wire (terminal 3) and ground = 0 volts If not check wire to terminal 43 of DME control unit for a short to voltage
