Control Module: Description and Operation

The electronic transmission supplies two signals to the DME control units. The first is a shifting indicator which causes the ignition timing to by retarded for a smoother shift. The second signal indicates that torque converter lock-up has occurred. This modifies engine operation to account for the stiffer drive line when the converter is locked up.
