RELAY MULTIPLUG SERVICE
Relay Electrical Pin Service
Always remove locking deck and locking knives assembly when removing or inserting electrical pins.
Refer to instruction booklet included in connector contact removal kit P/N 88 88 6 611 130 (see S.I. 04 06 89 (1830)).
Examine the electrical connector to be removed. Determine the correct location of the female locking tab.
The locking tab is located 180 degrees from the crimp seam.
Insert BMW Tool 611 137 to release locking tab and allow withdrawal of the electrical connector.
Initially, the BMW Tool 611 137 may be unavailable as mentioned in S.I. 04 06 89 (1830). Should this be the case, an interim tool can be fabricated as indicated. (See Workshop Hint, next page)
Further, in some cases, the retaining fingers may not release even though the locking deck and knives have been removed.
If this occurs, insert two additional interim tools in the bottom of the multiplug as shown to release the retaining fingers.
Workshop Hint:
A large staple from a heavy duty carboard box can be fashioned to work as an interim tool.
