Crankshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation
Engine Speed/Reference Sensor:
Engine Speed/Reference Sensor:
Engine Speed/Reference Wheel:
The engine speed sensor supplies engine speed data to the control unit. The sensor consists of a permanent magnet, iron core and a coil of wire. A magnetic field that increases and decreases is produced as the teeth of the reference wheel pass by the sensor. The TDC reference signal is generated by the two missing teeth on the reference wheel as they pass by the inductive sensor.
