Distributor: Description and Operation

Ignition Distributor:

The ignition distributor consists of the insulating cover (between the timing cover and ignition rotor), resistor rotor and the distributor cap.
The ignition distributor's only function is to distribute high voltage from the coil to the proper ignition wire. It is very flat and is mounted at the front of the engine. The rotor is mounted on an adaptor which is driven by the camshaft.
