Description of On-Board Diagnostic System

Notes on the BMW DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM:

The [1][2]lamp control module (LKM) is a component part of the instrument cluster/check-control system. The diagnostic program instrument cluster check-control indicates the current LKM messages in the *D* 200 Check-control status lists. In the case of defect, information can be selected with (down arrow).
Possible defects include:

- Light defective and *D* display "not OK."
- Light defective and *D* display "OK."
- Light not defective but *D* display "not OK."

A screen page for the brake light switches follows the light messages. The brake light switch and the brake light test switch can be checked with the aid of this display screen page.

- Observe special circuit for country-specific versions Norway and Sweden!
- If a crash and alarm sensor is installed, the following lines are connected via the crash and alarm sensor depending on the country-specific versions:
ECE versions: Wire from light switch to LKM Pin 3 (low beam).
US version: Wire from high beam switch to LKM Pin 1 (high beam).
