Test Step 1.3

Test 1.3:

Ignition ON: ASC-PALA not ON, ABS lamp ON:

- Check 55-pin connector X7 that it is firmly fitted and connect it correctly at the ABS/AS C control unit. Check fuse F29. (Rear window defogger check?)

Detach connector X7 and use universal adapter for the following tests.

Ignition ON

Check voltage between:

- Pin 1 and Pin 3 11.5 ... 12.5 V
- Pin 1 and Pin 18 11.5 ... 12.5 V
- Pin 1 and Pin 36 11.5 ... 12.5 V

If voltage is not OK. only in one test, check ground terminal point, check wire in accordance with schematic.

If voltage is not OK. in all three tests, check overvoltage protection relay, check wire from Pin 1 to overvoltage protection relay.

Check overvoltage protection relay: (ignition OFF)

- Connect Pin 1 and Pin 42
- Connect Pin 51 and Pin 18

If PALA lights, the overvoltage protection relay is defective.

If PALA does not light: (ignition OFF)

Measure resistance between Pin 1 and Pin 51 approx. 120 Ohm at display >999 KOhm lamp defective, check wire from Pin 87 at overvoltage protection relay to PALA, check wire from Pin 51 to PALA.

Check PATA:
Measure resistance between Pin 1 and Pin 54,
PATA not depressed >999 KOhm, PATA depressed <1 Ohm

Check voltage between Pin 54 and Pin 18
PATA not depressed approx. 0 V
PATA depressed 11.5 ... 12.5V

If PALA lights with ignition ON, but goes out after approx. 150 msec, start engine, see test 2.2
