Test Step 2.1
Test 2.1:
Engine in LL: ABS lamp remains on or immediately comes on again; PALA ON:
Test with engine running:
- Does battery charge indicator lamp go out? Charge current OK.?
- Engine running at idle speed:
Measure voltage between Pin 33 (+) and 3 (-) >12.5 V
- (Switch off ignition) Measure resistance between Pin 4 and Pin 18 <1Ohm
Measure resistance between Pin 23 and Pin 20, 70 ... 100 Ohm
- Check function of valve relay:
Connect Pin 23 to Pin 42
Connect Pin 20 to Pin 3
If relay clicks, then:
- Measure voltage between Pin 4 (+) and Pin 36 (-) >11.5 V
If relay does not click, then:
- Renew valve relay.
- Check supply wires from the control unit connector X7 to the hydraulic unit X31 for continuity, a short to ground (-) or a short to positive (+) in accordance with schematic.
- Check connections in the hydraulic unit in accordance with schematic.
Other indicators:
- After starting engine, "ASC defect" appears in the display of the instrument cluster. ABS lamp and ASC/PALA lamp remain on, but no D+ signal from terminal 61 (alternator) to Pin 33.
- During a test drive, determine whether the ABS control (wheels do not lock) and the ASC control (wheels do not spin) are operating correctly despite the defect displays.
- If the ABS lamp goes out, the PALA remains on only "ASC defect" appears in the display, then the defect is a check-control defect: See instrument cluster/check-control.
