Test Step 3.2



Test 3.2:

Vehicle speed above 25 km/h: ABS lamp OFF, ASC display "defect", PALA OFF:

Check 55-pin connector that it is firmly fitted and connected correctly at the ABS/ASC control unit.

- Caution! Detach connector at the EML and DME control units for measurements. Read out defect code memories of EML and DME beforehand with BMW Diagnostic System.

Check wire from:
- Pin 43 to EML control unit Pin 13
- Pin 48 to EML control unit Pin 35
- Pin 46 to EML control unit Pin 34
- Pin 47 to DME control unit Pin 50: Check for correct connection, continuity (resistance) or short to ground (-) or positive (+)
- Check protection of Pin 1, Pin 41 to Pin 3 <1 Ohm

- Caution ! High voltage pulses at Pin 38 when engine is running.

- With the oscilloscope of the BMW Service Tester, record signal at Pin 38, level peaks 300 V, signal level 12 V
- (see Operating instructions, BMW Service Tester, connect Pin 1 to terminal 61) 3 signal pulses per revolution
- EML control defect, refer to BMW DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM *D* EML Defect Code Memory.

*D*: Diagnostic Mode; Connect the BMW DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM to the vehicle. Select control unit and set up diagnostic mode with the control unit.
