Test 4.2:

Vehicle speed above 100 km/h or during long trip: ABS lamp OFF, ASC display "defect", PALA OFF:

- Engine speed signal (see test 3.2)
- DME ignition fade-out (see BMW DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. *D* Defect Code Memory DME)

- Pedal position sensor test, (see BMW DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. *D* Defect Code Memory EML).
- Pedal position sensor setting.
- During test drive, check for other DME or EML-specific defects.
- Does "ASC detect" appear in display during ASC control (extreme acceleration)?
Check wire Pin 45 to Pin 38 DME control unit X1500 for continuity or a short.
- Check the external safety path.
