Lamp Control Module (LKM) 2ND Generation
The new lamp control system controls the headlights and foglights and monitors lamps and related switches and fuses. These functions include the operation and monitoring of the new pop-up headlight assemblies.
The LKM contains relays for low beams and foglights. Two external relays for pop-up headlight motors and high beam flashers are controlled by the LKM.
The park lights, tail lights and license plate lights are powered by the light switch. These circuits are monitored but not controlled by the LKM.
The brake light circuit is also powered by its own switch. As on E32s and E34s, a brake light test switch is integrated into the brake light switch. This switch is used for the monitoring function. The brake light circuit is also monitored but not controlled by the LKM.
The LKM monitors lamps, fuses, and related switch circuits. It also controls the light relays, and transfers data concerning lamp operation to the EKM (via the I-Bus).
