Water Pump: Service and Repair

1. Drain engine coolant.
2. Remove accessory drive belts, then the engine splash guard.
3. Remove center bolt, then the tension roller. During installation, torque to 17 ft. lbs.
4. Remove sprocket bolts. During installation, torque to 17 ft. lbs.
5. Attach tool No. 11 2 230 with support onto car frame. then remove damper center attaching bolt. During installation, torque to 362 ft. lbs.
6. Attach tool No. 00 7 501 with two bolts, then remove vibration damper hub from crankshaft.
7. Remove water pump pulley, then remove attaching bolts.
8. Remove water pump pulley with belt.
9. Insert and tighten bolts in tapered bores and uniformly press water pump from engine.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
