Drive Belt: Service and Repair

REMOVING AND INSTALLING DRIVE BELTS FOR AUXILIARY EQUIPMENT





Hold pulley with Special Tool 11 5 030 and unscrew coupling nut (1).

Note: Spacing of bolts varies.

Important! Left-hand threads - turn nut clockwise to unscrew.

Installation
Tightening torque 40 + 10 Nm (28 + 7 ft lb).




Arrangement:
1 Drive belt for alternator and power steering pump
2 Tensioner for 1
3 Drive belt for water pump and air conditioner compressor
4 Tensioner for 3

Belts are tightened automatically by the tensioners.




Loosen bolt and nut on tensioner.

Take off drive belt.

Note: Inspect drive belt for damage.




Installation:
Turn tensioner (1) against the stop slowly; then tighten the bolt and nut.
Tightening torque = 24 Nm (17 ft lb).

Remove or Install the second drive belt in the same manner.
