Brake Bleeding: Service and Repair

Brake fluid is hygroscopic and consequently takes on moisture from the air through a vent hole in the brake fluid reservoir. This can drop the brake fluid boiling point to 160-180°C (320-350°F). Therefore, the brake fluid must be replaced annually.

CAUTION: Keep brake fluid off painted surfaces.

- Connect bleeder on the brake fluid tank. Refer to operating instructions supplied with pertinent equipment.

NOTE: Charging pressure must not exceed 2 bar (28 psi). Don't use air flushing.

- Depress and hold down the brake pedal.

- Connect bleeder hose with bottle on bleeder screw and open bleeder valve on wheel brake, beginning at right rear.
- Release brake pedal and then operate it 12 times against the stop.
- Hold brake pedal down in floored position.
- Close bleeder valve.
- Release the brake pedal.
- Repeat these steps at left rear, right front and left front.
