Air Injection: Testing and Inspection

DYNAMIC TEST
- Attach a hose to the air cleaner housing of the air pump; It is located below the coolant expansion tank.
- Start the engine.

The magnetic clutch for the air pump is activated below an engine temperature of 104°F (40°C) and with engine speeds <4600 rpm. Activation takes place by means of the air pump relay in the E-box for approx. 2.5 minutes.

Vacuum can be detected with the hand at the hose when the pump is operating. If not, check:

^ Air pump relay
^ DME control module operation
