Solenoid Valve Kick-Down Prevent (A/T Only)

TEST PROCEDURE
Function Check:
The solenoid valve in the automatic transmission receives its voltage supply ( >10 V) when the engine is running. The positive connection is switched by the Fuel Pump Relay (EKP) and the negative signal comes from the Digital Motor Electronic (DME) control unit (Pin 33). This signal is switched off at excessively high speed thus preventing kick-down.

Effects of defect:
No downshift from 4th gear to 3rd gear no longer possible as of a speed of approx. 75 mph (120 km/h).

Possible causes:
- Wire to DME control unit Pin 33 defective
- Solenoid valve or voltage supply not OK.

Resistance Test:
Connect universal adapter. Measure resistance at Pins 33 and 19.
Should be 22-60 ohms
