Code 53 (Throttle Position Switch/Full Load)
THROTTLE POSITION SWITCHExplanation
This trouble code is stored when the throttle switch or the wire to the Digital Motor Electronic (DME) control unit Pin 53 has a short to ground.
NOTE: A prerequisite for this is a load signal >1.8 ms and the idle contact closed at the same time. If the load signal drops below 4.5 ms, the full load signal is ignored by the DME control unit.
Troubleshooting
- Perform status monitoring.
- Check mechanical connection of throttle valve.
- Proceed with displayed scan tool diagnostic instructions where applicable.
