Subject:
Incorrect engine control module identification resulting in false values to be displayed during diagnosis.

Situation:
All M70 engine control modules M1.7 NOT LISTED BELOW will have an incorrect engine control module identification for Engine Control Module II (Cylinders 7-12). Instead of the test programs for engine control module 1.7, the test programs for engine control module M1.2 appear and the values displayed on the MoDiC will be incorrect.

The function of the engine control module is NOT AFFECTED by this condition.

Solution:
At the present time, use either BMW Service-Tester Software 'Diagnosis V9.0 A/B/C' or 'Diagnosis V2.0 A/B E31' when performing diagnostic work on these engine control module versions.
