Component Locations:

Preparation
1. Carefully remove the ignition wires from the distributor cap. Check for cracks, or burns on the ignition wires.

NOTE: All ignition wires are identified by reference numbers printed near the distributor cap.

CAUTION: Do not attempt to disconnect the ignition wires from the 90° suppression connectors at the distributor cap or at the spark plug connectors.

2. Disconnect the ignition wires from the spark plugs.

Ignition Wire Test:

Checking Ignition Wires
3. With an ohmmeter test the resistance of each ignition wire including connectors.

^ Resistance of each ignition wire including the 90° suppression connector and suppression spark plug connector should be 6 K ohms (±20%).

^ If the readings are not within specifications replace as necessary.

NOTE: Check with your parts supplier on the availability of individual wires or sets. If BMW special tools are not available do not attempt to replace spark plug connectors or 90° connectors.
