Door Locks: Description and Operation
FUNCTION DESCRIPTION OF FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE COMPLETE WITH LOCK CYLINDERLocks of all door, trunk lid and fuel tank flap are unlocked and locked electronically.
Central locking/unlocking can be activated on the lock of the driver's door, front passenger's door or trunk lid.
Central arresting of all doors can only be activated on the driver's door or front passenger's door.
Input Circuitry:
Three each microswitches are operated via the lock cylinder mechanism of both front doors.
Turning the key about 45° operates the LOCKING switch, about 90° the CENTRAL ARRESTING switch and turning in opposite direction the UNLOCKING switch, and deactivates the burglar alarm.
Synchronizing the Locking System:
If the system is no longer synchronized due to incorrect operations (e.g. locking activated with the driver's or front passenger's door open), so that the catch button remains up, the system can be resynchronized by locking the car mechanically.
Locking System After Failure of The Electrical System
Mechanical Unlocking:
Driver's door and front passenger's door can be unlocked mechanically should power supply ever fall (e.g. dead battery).
This requires lifting the handle flap and turning the key past pressure point (1) by about 110°.
Mechanical Locking:
Driver's door and front passenger's door can be locked mechanically.
This requires turning the key past pressure point (1) by about 110°.
