SUBJECT: Alarm LED/MIC Placement in Conjunction with BMW Cellular Telephone

MODELS: 1992 MY 5 Series (E34) and 7 Series (including 1991 MY 75OiL vehicles produced in July and August 1991).


Situation: The above-listed vehicles are pre-wired for the CMT1000 cellular telephone, which will use a dashboard-mounted microphone for "hands free" telephone operation.

The dashboard mounting location for the microphone for E32 vehicles is the knock-out blank located to the left of the radio.

The dashboard mounting location for the microphone for the E34 vehicles is the knock-out blank located on the fog light switch bezel housing.

Note: July and August 1991 production E34 vehicles will use an A-pillar telephone microphone rather than a dashboard mounting location.

Because the knock-out blanks are currently being used for the alarm system LED/MIC installation, alternate mounting locations must be used when installing both telephone and alarm systems in the same vehicle.

Correction: Use the attached installation instructions for mounting the alarm LED and microphone (in the above-listed vehicles) if a CMT1000 telephone is to be installed in the same vehicle.
