Hydraulic Fluid

Situation:
Beginning with 9/91 production Pentosin CHF 11S has been used in all models which previously used CHF 7.1. All cars filled from the factory with this fluid have a sticker indicating this on the hydraulic fluid reservoir. Both Pentosin CHF 11S and CHF 7.1 are green in color.

CHF 11S is available from the Parts Department under P/N 81 22 9 407 758.

Action:
The fluid type sticker on the hydraulic reservoir or the reservoir cap must be checked on all cars prior to adding fluid to ensure that the correct fluid is added. It is not permissible to mix Pentosin CHF 11S and CHF 7.1 in one system.

If the wrong type of hydraulic fluid is added, the system may be drained and refilled with the proper version without damage to the system.
