SUBJECT: Reduced Airflow with Microfilter (IHKRF3)

MODELS: 5 Series (E34) - 1992 Models

Situation: The IHKR3 system with microfilter (designated IHKRF3) has a slightly reduced airflow (approx. 10%) compared to the system without microfilter. This reduction is more pronounced if the microfilter is heavily soiled.

Correction: If complaints of this nature are received, advise the customer of the following:

- If a complaint is received of misting over of the windows in cold or damp weather, increase the fan speed.

- If large amounts of air pollution are routinely encountered, the microfilter should be changed more frequently.

Please ensure that all service and sales personnel are aware of this characteristic of the microfilter-equipped E34 system.
