SUBJECT:
Alignment of EWS II and DME Control Modules is Not Possible
MODELS:
3 Series (E36)
Situation:
On E36 vehicles which have a letter in the third position of the GM line of the Central Coding Key (ZCS) (for example, GM: 15B300009), the "EWS-DME Alignment" cannot be performed using "Programming V6.0 A/B." The message "Alignment not carried out" is displayed on the MoDiC. Alignment must be performed whenever an EWS II control module, a DME control module or a DME EPROM is being replaced.
This error does not influence the programming or coding of engine control modules.
Correction:
To perform the alignment of EWS II and DME, use the MoDiC diskette Programming V5.1."
This program is also located on the DIS CD-ROM "Program V4.0" and can be loaded into the MoDiC via DIS.
A corrected version ("Programming V6.1") will be on the DIS CD-ROM "Program V5.0" which is in preparation.
Warranty Status: Information only.
