Code 38 (Stability Control Intervention)

INTERVENTION IN AUTOMATIC STABILITY CONTROL (ASC)
Explanation
This trouble code is stored when the Automatic Stability Control (ASC) signal (12 V at Digital Motor Electronic (DME) Pin 38) is applied for more than 1 sec.

NOTE: This trouble code can be ignored if no Electronic Throttle Control (EML) control unit is installed.

Troubleshooting
- Status monitoring. With the ignition switched "ON" or the engine idling, the nominal value for the Automatic Stability Control (ASC) signal is = "OFF". If the display shows "ON", this indicates a short to positive at Pin 38 (ASC).
- Check wire and control unit.
- Proceed with displayed scan tool diagnostic instructions where applicable.
