Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVE AND INSTALL
- Unscrew oil pipe from Variable Camshaft Control (VANOS) control unit.




- Unscrew bolts.
- Remove ground tape (1) and suspension lug.




- Remove impulse sensor.




- Remove electric lead duct.




- Mark plug (3) on wire harness and disconnect it.
- Reinstall in reverse order.

NOTE:
- When reinstalling oil pipe for VANOS control unit, check seals and replace if necessary.
- Ensure that the lead from the impulse sensor does not contact the water pump drive gear after assembly.
