Procedure 4

Modification of steering column support tube bracket.

Gain access to the steering column support tube bracket by removing:

1. On board computer or clock

2. Air conditioning control module (behind storage bin)

3. Cigarette lighter/storage bin assembly

Remove bolts holding support tube mounting bracket, and remove bracket.





Modify bracket by cutting off the end as illustrated. Touch up, bare metal with paint.





Install modified bracket.

Tightening torque: 24 Nm

Reinstall all components at center console.





1993 Models Produced 9/92 - 11/92.

Vehicles in this production period do not have the bracket referred to above. Replace the single mounting bolt with part number 07 12 4 203 573.
