Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Final Wiring

1. See Figure 9. Locate factory installed 12 pin alarm connector and single female pin black connector (hood protection). They are positioned behind the glove box above the black plastic air duct to the left of the A-B cruise control module (blue in color).

Note:
On early production vehicles the single female pin black connector may not be factory installed at this location. If inspection of the general area around the 12 pin vehicle connector indicates this connector is not at this location proceed to step 2.

If the single female pin black connector is located next to the 12 pin connector installation instructions as follows:

Plug the 12 pin connector and the single black connector from the main alarm wiring harness into the factory installed 12 pin alarm connector and single female pin black connector.

Plug MIC cable into alarm module port marked "Input".

Plug LED cable extension into main alarm wire harness receptacle (wire marked "LED" with foil tag).

2. See Figure 9B. Locate two wire harness routed from engine compartment hood switch through fire wall seal. Seal is located on fire wall behind glove box location.

This two wire harness consists of one brown wire and one violet/green/yellow wire. See Figure 9C. Fabricate and connect a jumper wire to the violet/green/yellow wire (Scotchlok and 3M # 558) and connect this wire to the single pin black connector wire (red/white) from the alarm harness.

3. Plug the 12 pin connector from the main alarm wiring harness into the factory installed 12 pin alarm connector.

4. Plug MIC cable into alarm module port marked "Input".

5. Plug LED cable extension into main alarm wire harness receptacle (wire marked "LED" with foil tag).

Note:
Due to factory wiring changes (ZKE - IV) in 94 MY E36 4-door sedans it will be necessary to install a jumper wire between pin # 4 wire (brown/black) and pin # 5 wire (brown/white) of connector X13254 to provide alarm monitoring of both rear doors. Use "Scotch Lock" type connectors for this purpose. See Figure 9G which shows location of connector X13254.
