NOTE: BMW does not provide a separate procedure or precise timing marks for the replacement of the camshaft drive chain. The replacement / alignment procedure can be found under Camshaft, Engine (Testing and Inspection, Adjustments, Service and Repair).

CAUTION!: Incorrect removal/installation without the use of special tools could damage or break the camshafts. Valves could also be bent through contact with the piston crowns. Always note installation instructions and use specified special tools, procedures, and sequences.
