Procedure
If it is determined that the vehicle is not coded for Seat Occupation Detection and that the wiring must be modified, proceed as follows:1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and cover the end to prevent the connection from being remade. The battery negative terminal must be disconnected whenever connecting or disconnecting the Airbag control module.
2. Disconnect the ZAE II Connector and remove the locking plate as shown.
3. Remove the connector cover by sliding it off the pin housing as shown.
4. Using a fine pointed screwdriver or scribe, depress the locking tab of pin 8 as shown and withdraw the wire and pin from the housing.
5. Repeat for pin 12 and pin 15.
6. Insulate each pin with a small piece of electrical tape as shown.
7. Tape the three wires back to the harness away from the connector as shown.
8. Reassemble the cover to the pin housing as shown.
9. Reassemble the locking plate as shown and reconnect the ZAE II Control Module.
10. Reconnect the battery.
11. Connect the DIS Tester to the vehicle and turn ignition ON.
12. Select "Diagnosis"
13. Select "19 Airbag"
14. Select "Expert Mode" and clear Fault Memory. Be sure to switch off the ignition for ten seconds before switching it on again.
15. Select "Read Fault Memory" and confirm that no new faults are stored.
