Test Step 12.1
Test 12.1:
Sensor defect (rear left), faults at speed sensor, pulse wheel or rear left wires.
Other indicators:
- Static defect with and without control:
- After restarting engine and driving off "ASC defect" appears in the instrument cluster display.
- Static defect during trip at speed below 44 km/h "ASC defect" appears in the display of the instrument cluster after 20 sec (not if speed drops below 12 km/h within 20 sec). Or after stopping the vehicle and driving off again "ASC defect" appears in the instrument cluster display at a speed of 24 km/h.
- ABS lamp ON until the ignition is switched off, ABS lamp OFF when engine restarted.
Test:
Resistance measurement:
- Pin30 and 29, 650 Ohm ... 1.6 KOhm
- Detach speed sensor connection under left rear seat. Check Pin 30 and 29 for a short to ground (-) and positive (+), move wires if necessary.
Renew rear left speed sensor. Visually inspect pulse wheel.
Other indicators:
Intermittently occurring defect with and without control:
- Defect occurs at a speed above 44 km/h, "ASC defect" appears immediately in the instrument cluster display, further control on side of vehicle not effected possible (e.g. loose contact at sensor/wire).
- ABS lamp ON until ignition is switched off. ABS lamp off when engine restarted.
Test:
- Detach speed sensor connection under left rear seat. Bypass wire harness side of connector, measure resistance Pin 30 and 29, 0 ... 1.5 Ohm (move wires). Check wires for a short to ground (-) and positive (+). Renew rear left speed sensor. Visually inspect pulse wheel. If teeth damaged, renew pulse wheel.
