Test Step 12.2
Test 12.2:
Sensor defect (rear right), faults at rear right speed sensor, pulse wheel or wires:
Other indicators:
- Static defect with and without control:
- After restarting engine and driving oft, "ASC defect" appears in the instrument cluster display.
- In the case of a static defect during the trip at a speed below 44 km/h, "ASC defect" appears in the instrument cluster display after 20 sec (not if the speed drops below 12 km/h within 20 sec), or after stopping the vehicle and driving oft once again, "ASC defect" appears in the instrument cluster display at a speed of 24 km/h.
- ABS lamp ON until ignition is switched off, ABS lamp off when engine restarted.
Test:
- Measure resistance between Pin 10 and Pin 28, 650 Ohm ... 1.6 Ohm
- Detach speed sensor connection under right of rear seat.
- Check Pin 10 and 28 for short to ground (-) and positive (+), if necessary move wires.
- Renew rear right speed sensor. Visual inspection of pulse wheel.
Other indicators:
Intermittently occurring defect with and without control:
- Defect occurs at speed above 44 km/h, "ASC defect" appears immediately in the instrument cluster display, further control possible on the vehicle side not effected. (e.g. loose contact in the sensor/wire).
- ABS lamp ON until ignition is switched off. ABS lamp off when engine restarted.
Test:
- Detach speed sensor connection under right of rear seat. Connect jumper to wire harness side connector. Measure resistance Pin 10 and 28, 0 ... 1.5 Ohm (move wires). Check wires for a short to ground (-) and positive (+). Renew rear right speed sensor. Visually inspect pulse wheel, renew pulse wheel if teeth damaged.
