Test 15.1:

ABS/ASC control unit defect:

Other indicators:

- Computer-internal defect, control unit-specific.
- In the case of static defect: The ASC push button light remains off after the ignition is switched on. After starting engine "ASC defect" appears in the instrument cluster display.

Test:

- Check 55-pin control unit connector that it is firmly fitted and connected correctly. Clear defect code, start engine, read out flash code once again.
- If necessary, replace ABS/ASC control unit.

Other indicators:

- In the case of temporarily occurring defect: A current control phase is terminated immediately, "ASC defect" appears immediately in the instrument cluster display, the EML safety functions are activated.

Test:

- Check that terminals and ground connections are firmly fitted. Clear defect code, carry out test drive. Read out flash code once again.
- If necessary, renew ABS/ASC control unit.
