Defect Code 12:

*D* Defect code memory: 12 Tank reserve contact defective:

Explanation: Tank reserve contact sticking or wire has short to ground.

Troubleshooting:

Check wire to instrument cluster and reserve contact in tank sensor.

Notes:

The tank reserve lamp lights after closing the reserve contact with a delay of up to 25 seconds. The lamp switches on without a delay after switching on the ignition (up to 2 minutes after ignition ON).

The reserve contact can be checked by bypassing the time delay in *D* Test procedure
