Defect Code 15:



Measuring the coil resistance of the speedometer, tachometer, coolant temperature gauge and fuel gauge. Rear view of display instruments (connector side).



Measuring the coil resistance of the fuel consumption indicator. Rear view of indicator instrument (connector side).

Display instrument failure:

Perform system test for instrument cluster: The pointers of the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge and KVA move within 5 seconds from the zero position to the end position and back. Check display instrument with system test.

Instrument defective during system test:

If the pointer does not deflect during the system test, check coil resistance.

- Replace defective instrument.
- If coil resistance is OK, replace instrument cluster pc-board.

Check coil resistance:

Measure resistance at the plug contacts of the display instrument. Instrument removed!

Nominal values: 280 Ohm +/- 15 Ohm per contact pair.

Instrument OK during system test:

*D* Test procedure: Check sensor and wires via diagnostic system. Refer to screen display for information on defects and pin assignments.

The tachogenerator is not included in the test procedure. If the speedometer fails, check wires from instrument cluster to tachogenerator. If wires OK, replace tachogenerator.
