Removing Top Right Timing Case Cover

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/SEALING OR REPLACING TOP RIGHT TIMING CASE COVER

- Remove right cylinder head cover, Removing Cylinder Head Covers
- Remove piston for chain tensioner, Removing Piston For Chain Tensioner
- If necessary, remove tubes for secondary air intake.




- Remove camshaft sensor.




- Unfasten top screw from dipstick tube.




- Unfasten timing case cover.





Installation Note: Replace sealing ring in cylinder head for oil supply of chain tensioner.





Installation Note:
- Ensure dowel sleeves (1) are correctly located.
- Coat contact surface edge of joint between cylinder head and cylinder head gasket with liquid gasket Hylomar SQ32 M.





Installation Note:
- Keep sealing faces clean and free of oil.
- Replace seals.

Caution:
- Note correct installation direction for gaskets.
- Install gaskets with sealing bead (1) facing the timing case cover.





Installation Note:
- Ensure that gaskets are correctly seated.
- Push tensioning rail firmly inwards.
- Fit timing-chain cover.
- Install all screws.
- Fit screws (1) against cylinder head with no clearance.





Installation Note: Tighten screws (2) on timing case cover in two passes.





Installation Note: Tighten remaining screws (1) in cylinder head in two passes. Torque to 21 ± 1 Nm (15.5 ± 1 ft lb)
