Brake Bleeding: Service and Repair
The following procedure has been revised by BMW Technical Service Bulletin No. 34 06 90 (3134).1. Connect suitable pressure bleeder to brake fluid reservoir. Maximum charging pressure is 43.5 psi.
2. Attach bleeder hose and container to right rear wheel. Bleed until no bubbles appear.
3. Repeat step 2 for left rear, right front and left front wheels.
4. Support rear suspension at wheel carriers and lower car so rear suspension compresses to its normal loaded position (to prevent damage to output shaft joints). Wheels must be able to turn freely.
5. Attach bleeder hose and container to right rear bleeder and open bleeder.
6. Depress brake pedal to stop 20 times.
7. Start engine and run in first gear at approximately 3500 rpm, while operating ASC button at two second intervals for one minute.
8. Close bleeder and repeat steps 5 through 7 on left rear wheel.
9. Attach bleeder hose and container to right front wheel and open bleeder.
10. Depress brake pedal to stop 12 times. Close bleeder and repeat on left front wheel.
11. Disconnect pressure bleeder.
