MODEL:
All E34 equipped with M60
Situation:
Replacement Oxygen Sensor P/N 11 78 1 742 023 used with M60 equipped vehicles may be wired incorrectly. An incorrectly wired replacement oxygen sensor will result in the setting of fault code 12 or 13 in the DME and the Check Engine light will be illuminated.
Correction:
To avoid inconveniencing the customer by waiting for another replacement part, the pin assignment of an incorrectly wired sensor can be corrected using pin removal tool 61 1 131 in conjunction with releasing the locking tab for each pin.
The pin assignment at the back of the connector on a correctly wired O2 sensor harness should be as follows:
Pin # Color
1 GREY
2 BLACK
3 WHITE
4 WHITE
Please check all M60 replacement O2 sensors for proper pin assignment prior to installation.
