Removal/Installation

REMOVING AND INSTALLING STEERING COLUMN ASSY.






Disconnect battery ground lead. Remove steering wheel. Remove instrument panel trim at bottom.
Check position of collar ring (1) and snap ring (2).
Unscrew steering column casing,
Remove bolt.







Press down on steering spindle.







Installation:
Bolt is positioned in locking groove of steering spindle.
Replace self-locking nut. Tightening torque 22 Nm. (16 ft. lbs.).






Note:
Mark alignment of splines with a dot of paint. Screw on the adjusting nut far enough, that the sliding force is 40 ± 25 N (9 ± 5.5 lbs.).

Unscrew bolts.






Installation:
Replace self-locking nuts.
Tightening torque







Installation:
Mount spacing pipe.
Unscrew bolts.






Remove steering column by pressing down after loosening both nuts of mounting bracket.






Installation:
Mount spacing pipe. Tightening torque.
