Ride Height Adjustment

Ride height, adjusting

Adjusting the ride height on LAD-equipped oars requires that the car be placed over a pit or on a full platform lift with the rear wheels on moveable plates. This allows the rear wheel camber to adjust as the rear of the car is raised and lowered.

- Put car in neutral gear and release parking brake.

- Load luggage compartment with specified weight:

LAD Ride Height Load Requirement

Weight placed over rear axle to check or adjust ride level height 200 kg (440 lb.)

- Working beneath rear of car, disconnect control link from regulator valve lever (arrow). Start engine.

WARNING: Only run the car in a well-ventilated area. Carbon monoxide fumes can be fatal.

- Ride height (A) is measured from the lower edge of the wheel arch to the bottom edge of the wheel rim.

- Using ride height specifications given in Table, move LAD regulator valve lever forward or rearward until height is correct. Then lock lever in center position by inserting a 3 mm (1/8 in.) drill bit through lever and into valve body.

CAUTION: If the lever is pushed rearward past the center position once the correct level is reached, repeat the adjusting procedures.

NOTE: Moving the lever forward raises the car. Moving the lever rearward lowers the car. When the lever is in the center position, the ride height is maintained.

- If necessary, loosen locknuts and adjust control link length so that link end fits correctly into lever. Tighten lock nuts.

- Using a new self locking nut, install link and then remove drill bit.

Control link to LAD regulator valve lever (self locking nut) Tightening Torque 9 Nm (80 in-lb).

- Remove load from luggage compartment and allow system to self adjust ride height. Reload car, wait a few minutes, and then check that ride height is correct.
